Wholesale Latex Gloves

Wholesale Latex Gloves

Wholesale latex gloves can be purchased for industries that need latex gloves in large quantities. Latex gloves are commonly used by dentists, doctors, police departments, fire departments, jails, day care centers, hotels, and more. They are not recommended for the food industry because the latex powder from the gloves may become airborne and affect the taste of the food.
Latex is a natural product derived from Hevea brasiliensis, or rubber, trees. Most of the world's natural rubber trees are found in tropical countries, such as Malaysia. The bark of these trees can be shaved off so that the latex liquids bleeds and is then collected. The latex will harden into a gum unless it is treated with chemicals soon after it is collected. It is important to realize that because latex is a natural product, there will be some variation in the protein content from one lot of gloves to the next.
Here at GloveSaver.com, we carry many different brands of wholesale latex gloves. Our gloves are typically nine inches in length and we sell them in quantities of 100 gloves per box. We also carry some 12-inch gloves that go up the forearm area, instead of just to the wrist. 12-inch latex gloves are typically available in boxes of 50 because these gloves take up more room.
There are a few options to consider when choosing wholesale latex gloves. Some of our gloves are powdered, while others are powder-free. You can also choose from gloves that are textured or smooth, depending on how they are intended to be used. All of the latex gloves that we carry are Exam Grade.

Ban on Latex Exam Gloves ABC News Report

Amanda Bowers, an emergency room nurse, always keeps her EpiPen nearby during her 12-hour shift. Bowers is allergic to latex, and the tiny needle loaded with epinephrine is her weapon against a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Even though the Columbus, Ohio, hospital where Bowers works is latex-free, the stretchy gloves donned by paramedics rushing patients into the ER are enough to make Bowers' eyes water and her skin itch. If she gets too close, it gets hard for her to breathe.

"If I'm in the same room as them, there are enough particles in the air to have a reaction," Bowers said. "I can tell it's coming on, and I just try to avoid it as best I can."

Bowers said she has never had to use her EpiPen while on duty, but she's always on the lookout for latex -- as a health care worker and as a patient. The blood pressure cuff at her doctor's office or the rubber hub in a hypodermic needle could trigger a severe rash or an asthma-like reaction.

To protect health care workers and patients from these debilitating allergic reactions, the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen has petitioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to ban latex and powdered medical gloves, citing health consequences that range from a mild rash to death, depending on a person's sensitivity.

"Large numbers of patients and large numbers of health care professionals have been adversely affected by latex, powdered gloves," said Dr. Michael Carome, deputy director of Public Citizen's Health Research Group. "Direct contact with latex products can cause skin reactions and, in some patients, anaphylaxis."

Carome explained how small particles in the natural rubber can attach to the corn starch powder used to ease the gloves on and off the hands, and become airborne.

"When the gloves are snapped on or off, that latex can go into air," Carome said. "If a health care worker or a patient with an allergy inhales it, they can go into anaphylactic shock, a generalized allergic reaction with respiratory symptoms and a drop in blood pressure."

The petition is the third filed to the FDA since 2008, Carome said, and the second effort by Public Citizen following a 1998 petition to ban powdered rubber gloves. The watchdog organization argues that safer alternatives, such as powder-free synthetic gloves, have become widely available, and should be used in place of latex.

"More manufacturers have been making more of those gloves, because many hospitals are starting to require those kinds of gloves," Carome said.

Earlier versions of latex-free gloves were expensive and difficult to use – the FDA cited both pitfalls in response to Public Citizen's previous petition.

"They used to be like big plastic ziplock bags on your hands," Bowers said.

But better materials and more competition among manufacturers have improved the quality and reduced the cost of latex-free gloves.

"Synthetic gloves and nonpowdered gloves are more expensive. But it can't just be a consideration of the cost of the gloves themselves," Carome said, adding that sick days, injury compensation and long-term disability claims should factor in, too.

"When you add in all those costs, we believe that the cost differential becomes much more neutral," Carome said.

Although more hospitals are independently switching to latex-free gloves to protect patients and staff, Carome said the FDA is "acting recklessly" by not mandating it.

Karen Riley, a spokeswoman for the FDA, said the administration would review Public Citizen's petition and respond to it within 180 days.

Some paramedics at her Columbus hospital switched to latex-free gloves when they learned of Bowers' allergy. And even the Columbus Fire Department uses latex-free gloves, Bowers said.

"I would definitely be supportive of a ban," she said. "It's safer for patients and health care workers."

Latex Free Allergy Free Disposable Gloves

Latex-free gloves are rapidly becoming the desired choice for disposable gloves. They are advantageous because they are generally stronger and safer to use. Latex-free gloves are typically made from either plastic or a synthetic rubber instead of latex. These gloves are also known as vinyl gloves, polyethylene gloves, or nitrile gloves.

Regular latex can cause allergic reactions for some people. Therefore, it is not safe for workers to use latex gloves unless they have been tested for this allergy beforehand. It is also not wise to use latex gloves when handling materials that are publicly used. For instance, latex gloves are never used in the food industry. Using latex gloves for food handling can affect the way that the food tastes and might also cause allergic reactions in customers or employees.

While latex gloves are made from natural rubber, nitrile gloves are made from a synthetic rubber. This rubber does not cause allergic reactions and it is more durable than latex. Therefore, it is less likely to tear while it is being used. Here at GloveSaver.com, we carry nitrile gloves that can be used for dangerous situations or simply for everyday cleaning. Feel free to browse through our website for your available options.

Plastic gloves are another form of latex-free gloves. You can choose from either vinyl or polyethylene materials, but both offer enhanced protection for hands. All of the plastic gloves that we carry on our website are Exam Grade, FDA approved, and ADA approved. Purchase latex-free gloves from us today to experience the best products for hand protection.

Disposable Nitrile Gloves

Disposable nitrile gloves are highly recommended for use in many professions. They tend to be more expensive than latex gloves, but with good reason. Nitrile gloves are completely safe to use and are much more durable than latex gloves. They are also made from synthetic rubber, which is safe for anyone who is exposed to the gloves.

Latex gloves are made from natural rubber latex. This material can sometimes cause allergic reactions, so latex gloves are not recommended for use around people. Using nitrile gloves instead will ensure that patients will not have allergic reactions. This is especially necessary for doctors, nurses, surgeons, and dentists to avoid lawsuits or general hardship.

Nitrile gloves are also highly recommended over latex for the restaurant industry. When latex gloves are used in the kitchen, latex powder can become airborne and get into the food. This may affect the taste of the food and may also cause allergic reactions for customers. Nitrile gloves are suitable and durable for those preparing or serving food.

Nitrile gloves are ideal for protecting hands from dirt, grease, pesticides, chemical splashes, germs and more. They also offer superior resistance to cuts, abrasions, punctures, snags, or rips. You can be sure that your hands will be protected while you are wearing nitrile gloves. Purchase bulk amounts of disposable nitrile gloves here at GloveSaver.com. All of our gloves come with a one-year guarantee and a 30-day money back guarantee if you decide against our gloves for any reason.

Latex, Nitrile and Vinyl General Glove Use

1) Can you use hand lotion under latex gloves?

GloveSaver.com recommends to use hand lotion in between or after
glove use only. If you are to use hand cream or lotion
under Adenna latex exam gloves, please choose one
that is water-based and not petroleum or oil-based.
Petroleum or oil-based lotions may deteriorate the
barrier properties of the gloves.

2) Why do some gloves produce brown stains when you put
them on?

This
is usually caused by the chemical reaction between
your skin and the gloves. Before putting on gloves, your hands might come in contact with copper, iron or metal material, such as coins, or you may have heavy acidic perspiration in your hands. This can usually cause brown stains when wearing gloves. These brown stains do not affect the barrier properties of gloves.

3) Do GloveSaver Latex Exam Gloves receive the ADA Seal of
Approval?

We carry brand name
LPX / Microflex / Adenna and Kimberly Clark
Latex Exam Gloves that received the ADA
Seal of Approval. However, the ADA requires a different
limit of protein claim from the FDA for powder free
latex exam gloves. The ADA's is 200 ug/gm of gloves
instead of 50 ug/gm of glove.

4) Do GloveSaver.com gloves comply with the USDA requirements
for safe use in food handling?

Yes, our latex, nitrile and vinyl gloves are safe to be used in all types of
food preparation or handling procedures. The USDA
does not establish any official regulatory requirement
for approval of gloves, but follows the guidelines
of the FDA's specifications. Our exam gloves, which
are made in compliance with the FDA and the Federal
Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), are therefore
safe for preparing, washing and processing meat, poultry,
seafood, vegetables, desserts, beverages, etc in all
USDA inspected establishments.

5) How can you tell if a glove has degraded and should
not be used?

A glove may have degraded when it turns hard or brittle
and loses its elasticity, or turns too soft and does
not return into shape after being stretched. Change
of color in the glove should also be a warning sign.
DO NOT use gloves that show signs of degradation.
Always follow GloveSaver guidelines in storing gloves
to preserve their shelf life, and rotate stock by
practicing FIFO, First-in First-out inventory control.

6) What are the storage guidelines for GloveSaver.com gloves?

Always store our gloves in the original packaging in a
cool, dry and well ventilated area. Stay away from
dust, sunlight, moisture, X-ray, and excessive heat
above 100 F (37 C).

One of the most important things for healthcare, dental, and lab workers today is choosing the Right glove. When selecting an examination glove, there are a few things to consider:

BARRIER PROTECTION
This is the prime reason you wear gloves. Therefore, choose the gloves that best protect you for the task you are to perform. While working in a high-risk environment where you may be in contact with blood borne pathogens or hazardous substances, wear good quality latex, nitrile or polyurethane exam gloves. Vinyl exam gloves can be used in non-high risk applications.

FIT/COMFORT
Your exam gloves should also fit you well and feel comfortably. Latex gloves, due to its high level of elasticity and memory, fit the user hands very well. Nitrile gloves vary in softness and flexibility. Some are comfortable and fit well, whereas some are stiff and not flexible. Polyurethane gloves are soft, flexible and exert virtually no strain on the user hands. Vinyl gloves are usually baggy in fit, but are soft and comfortable.

ALLERGY CONCERNS
Are you allergic to latex? Are your co-workers allergic to latex? Do you work in a latex-free environment? Latex allergies have become a concern, especially in the healthcare industry. If you are sensitive to latex, avoid all latex products altogether and use only non-latex exam gloves, such as polyurethane, nitrile and vinyl. If you choose to use latex gloves, you should only use powder free latex gloves with reduced protein content.

On the other hand, if you suffer from Type IV Chemical Hypersensitivity, switching from latex gloves to non-latex gloves may not alleviate the situation, because these chemicals are added in the process of making all types of gloves including both latex and non-latex.

COST
Finally, there is always the question of cost versus quality. Should you buy the cheapest gloves you can find and constantly worry if they will tear, rip and pinholes, or should you choose the most expensive gloves available? Well, you should first take into consideration the above factors in choosing your gloves, and then select the acceptable quality standards at the best value you can get. Latex gloves and vinyl gloves are generally very affordable. Nitrile gloves, polyurethane gloves and other synthetic gloves are usually more costly.
